What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? 

Say thank you!

What do you usually wear to work?       

Sheath dresses.

Trademark accessory?

Heels.

What do you love most about your job? 

That I witness and report history every single day.

What do you like least about it?

When I have to keep calling and calling people to get an interview and they don’t respond. I get irritated and I’m sure they do, too.

What keeps you going at it? 

My love for my job. It just comes so naturally that it doesn’t even feel like work.

Have you always wanted to be a journalist? 

It came quite late, sometime after college. I really didn’t know what I wanted to do, until one day, I saw the influx of younger journalists on television and thought, “Hey, that’s exactly what I want to do!”

Where would you be working if not in media? 

Hmmm, that’s a scary thought. I have no idea.

Most interesting person you’ve met?

Probably Senator Ping Lacson. He’s tough, real, does his homework, and doesn’t beat around the bush. If he can’t truthfully answer a question, he’ll tell you, because he’d rather be forthright than lie. I think that’s hard to do especially if you’re a politician. 

Most impressive subject you’ve interviewed?

It has to be James Deakin. It’s a long story, but essentially he came up with a novel way to help his friend’s two-month-old baby get medical treatment. By“novel” I mean he borrowed a Maserati from another friend’s father and offered to chauffeur people around for a donation. His idea was so successful that he was able to raise more than he expected. Then came a twist in the end that not even James knew: When the baby’s grandfather asked James who lent him the Maserati, James said it was Willy Soong. The grandfather was in tears and told James to tell Mr. Soong that it was his granddaughter he was helping. Apparently, decades ago, Mr. Soong used to hitch a ride to school with the grandfather’s family. It was James’s idea that allowed these two families to once again cross paths. Good karma at its finest.

Who do you look up to, in your personal life and in your professional life? 

In my personal life it will always be my mom. But I salute reporters who have so much passion for their work. Take for example the campaign leading up to election day. Many of our CNN Philippines reporters got by with very little sleep, and they managed to pull through with great stories and a fantastic attitude. Of course, it wouldn’t hurt if I meet Anderson Cooper as well.

What does the Philippines need right now? 

A lot! But let me go basic: high-speed internet and an efficient transport system.

Everyone must meet... 

That one person who will never turn their back on you.

How do you keep connected?

Mostly Instagram.

How much time do you spend on social media? 

Two hours, maybe three.

Describe yourself in three words.

Realistic, considerate, and stubborn.

A car that my dad helped me buy.

 So I got a call from.my friend Pinky Webb yesterday and she asked if I was free Saturday because she wants to climb a mountain. "But let's choose an easy one to climb." She sent me links and said "oh look at Manabu Peak, it is rated 2/9 in terms of difficulty and 760 m lang above sea level! Lets climb Manabu! Near Manila pa!" Tita Beth her mom tagged along, and we assured her "it will be a walk in the park". So I messaged my friends Young and able atty Jun Dio, of DENR Region 4 with mountain climbing friends to ask how we can climb Manabu. Luckily, they planned to climb today too to plant some Banaba seedlings!! #aintnomountainhighenough

DREAMS REALLY DO CAME TRUEEEEEEE!!!!

I became her fan, since i was Second Year High School by that time i was 14 years old. I started love watching news because of my Father, He always told me (Melis, manuod ka lagi ng balita para aware ka sa nangyayari sa ating bansa). So every morning when He woke up, after He Prayed, and exercised, He turned on our Tv at exactly 4:45 . I woke up early because i need to go to school by 7:00 am (first day of school) , by exactly 5 :00 AM it is Umagang Kay Ganda (UKG). From that time i started to became her fan, i really dont know why, but all i know is after that everyday i woke early from 5 am until 6:30, I go to school always late, because i want to watch the whole show. (LOL)
                                      


And one thing i didn't forget, last October 30/31,2009 (if im not mistaken) I was watching XXX, and it's because their episode is so creepy and it's already passed 12. I woke up my Father, so that i will not scared.And he told me (Ano ba yan melis? nanunuod ka takot ka naman, patayin mo na lang yan tulog na ang tao eh ). And i answered him (Pa, samahan mo muna ako manuod, antayin ko lang matapos si Ms. Pinkz, tapos matulog na ako). And my Father accompanied me after the episode of Ms. Pinkz was finished ). And everytime i remembered this, i always cried bucket of tears. (My Father is very supportive anyway).


As years go by (nauso na ang FB, nakilala ko yung ibang PWF), we texted each other, chats, calls until midnight our topic is Only Ms. Pinkz and Edu Manzano. Hahahahahaha!! ( so sorry to mentioned the past) i became her super avid fan. (Lets make the story forward), On May 2011 My Father had passed away, i felt so devastated and empty ( ika nga para akong pinagsakluban ng langit at lupa. I dont have mother anymore nor Siblings, and then my Father died, it was just like my heart is crying ceaslessly. 

But instead of killing myself in the process i gave all my Time to Ms. Pinkz, i focused on being a fangirl. Thanked GOD im so blessed to be her  Fan, because of that i surpass all the heartaches. I became happy and whole again,  even if other people dont understand me ( Yung pinagtatawanan ka nila, dahil parang baliw ka. Ano ba makukuha mo diyan?? Makakatulong ba yan??? So sorry guys, im so happy on what i am doing). 
 Thus, everytime i think why i became a FanGirl, I always cried ,smile (tears of joy) and said (LORD, kaya pala naging Fangirl ako dahil si Ms. Pinkz ang instrument na binigay mo, para ipagpatuloy ko pa ang buhay ko,). And I realized that i have loved without expecting in return (and it brought so much joy to my heart). 

 I just want to see Ms. Pinkz and because of that aspiration, i need to study hard so that i will finish my studies and achieve all my dreams. Thats why I Graduated College 30% student, 70% Fangirl. Hahahahaha!!!!

And now i already achieved all my dreams (bonus na lang talaga yung iba), I saw her,hugged her and talked with her last Sept. 22,2017 it was surreal indeed (after that, nadagdagan pa ng ilang pagkikita).
 So Ms. Pinkz, if you are thankful to have us, Im very much Grateful to have you as my inspiration. You are always important, and always been part of my Life (Grabe ang impact mo sa buhay ko) . Rest assured, that no matter how busy i am, i will always be a fan to you (Palagi akong magpapaka-fangirl) I Love You, And I always will. God Bless !!

Pitche: Ms. Pinky ang ganda niyo po.

Ms. Pinky Webb: Thankyou, come here go inside, have a seat.

Melisa : Ayoko naiiyak ako.

Ms. Pinky: ha? bakit ka naiiyak? mamamatay  na ba ako bukas?

Ms. Pinky : Ou nga kaso hindi naman siya pumayag. 

Melisa: Eh baka po kasi di na matuloy, excited na po kasi ako.

     On Sept 22,2017  one of the dreams of some PWF, was came true. They waited this day for almost 9 years. The PWF was Pinky Webb Bloggers before (Est 2008). The PWF visited Ms. Pinky Webb ( celebrating their 9 years of being a PWF) on CNN Office .

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 24) — CNN Philippines' Senior Anchor and Correspondent Pinky Webb won at the 7th EdukCircle Award Saturday.

Webb was named "Best Public Affairs Talk Show Host" for her daily interview program,The Source.

"This award is truly special as it coincides with our first anniversary since the launch of 'The Source.' The thrust of the program is to bring issues closer to the public so that we can all have a better understanding and judgment of the stories we watch or read about every day – from politics, artists, successful Filipinos, and so much more," Webb said.

"This recognition from EdukcCircle is a result of hard work and most of all, team work from all of us in CNN Philippines. Thank you to everyone who believes and watches us. It's our honor to be of service to all of you," she added.
